OPENING : Thursday 21 March at 6-8 pm
EXHIBITION : Wed 20 - Sun 31 March , 2019
GROUP SHOW : Phylogenesis
Phylogenesis:the evolutionary history of a species or group of related species. This exhibition showcases a very special group of artists who met through tertiary education, and for these older graduates, the Phylogenesis exhibition is the realization of their love of learning and creative collaboration and a substantial demonstration of their continuing evolution.
After sharing skills, knowledge and experience, Phylogenesis exhibition brings together the results of their vastly different creative journeys and each contributor’s rich and diverse life experiences to the exhibition in a variety of mediums – including oil and acrylic on canvas and wood panel, woven sculptures and bespoke brushes, hand made artists’ books, linocut and woodcut prints and other works on paper.
Despite their diverse histories, the Phylogenesis exhibition artists are connected by their love of making art and learning. They are also connected by being part of the adult learning community they have made at the Council of Adult Education, or CAE. It is this connection that brings them together in March 2019, to share and show their love of making art, individually and collectively. They will continue to grow, to take on new challenges and to support each other with gusto.
